Start Biography

Born in Boston Massachusetts, Dr. McDonough was always physically active, playing a variety of different sports. He gravitated towards exercise science, mostly as a means to improve his physical performance. This led to a long career in martial arts, in which he was fairly competitive, particularly Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which led to many injuries, piquing his interest in rehabilitation techniques. Seeking to implement research driven medicine into his physical activities led Dr. McDonough to eventually complete his PhD in Exercise Science at the Florida State University in 2000.

Following this Dr. McDonough worked at UT-Arlington as an Associate Professor of Kinesiology (2007-2015) after which he moved to private practice, working as the director of rehabilitation at a physical therapy clinic (2016-2020).
