Dr. Dougherty will start as Dean at Touro on February 1, 2016, following the retirement of Touro’s founding Dean, Dr. Mitchell Forman.

For the past decade Touro University Nevada has been deeply invested in the local community, educating medical professionals to improve the healthcare of Southern Nevada. On Wednesday, July 29 the university welcomed its newest class of DO students. 135 future doctors kicked off a three-day orientation that began their medical school training.

2015 Summer Research Fellowship
Touro University Nevada (TUN) is again offering a Summer Research Fellowship program. The fellowship is available to Nevada residents who are undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited college program. The aim of this program is to expose undergraduate students to research including biomedical, clinical, epidemiological and educational research. The deadline is April 24, 2015 for submitting a TUN Summer 2015 Research Fellowship Application.

Touro University Nevada Hosting “Season of Lights” Soiree to Benefit Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities
Touro University Nevada (TUN) will host its third annual “Season of Lights” event and silent auction at the Eglet Advocacy Center. Funds raised from this event are awarded to families in the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities to help offset the cost of treatment services so finances are not a barrier to provide the much-needed care their children need. For many families, a diagnosis of Autism can be life-altering and comes with considerable costs for services.

Touro Nevada Launches First-Of-Its-Kind Mobile Healthcare Clinic to Address Needs of Less Fortunate, Homeless and Veterans of Downtown Las Vegas
Touro University Nevada will further its commitment to the Southern Nevada Community with the launch of a unique mobile healthcare clinic which will serve the homeless in the downtown area and throughout the Las Vegas Valley who cannot otherwise obtain healthcare. The mobile unit will be unveiled and officially launched at a press conference at the Zappos Campus Courtyard on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10 a.m.

Dean of Touro Nevada’s Medical School Becomes First Practicing Physician in Nevada to Receive National Award from American College of Physicians
The American College of Physicians (ACP) has voted to elect the Dean of Touro University Nevada’s Medical School, Mitchell D. Forman, DO, FACOI, FACP, FACR to Mastership in the American College of Physicians. Dr. Forman becomes the first practicing physician in the state of Nevada to receive this honor. The first Mastership in the ACP was presented in 1923.
