Theresa Tarrant, PhD, RN, CNE, ACUE has served as the TUN SON Director since September 2016. Dr. Tarrant is a qualified nurse educator with 35 years of experience in nursing, including direct patient care, positions of increasing responsibility in administrative nursing, and 15 years in academic nursing.

Dr. Tarrant is originally from New York, but has been in Nevada for 35 years - "I feel like a native"! She has one grown daughter Emily who is also a college student - so "I feel your pain"

After obtaining her BSN, Dr. Tarrant worked at NYU Medical Center in New York, Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, and Southwest Medical Associates. She started teaching in 2005 and has held positions at Great Basin, National University, University of Phoenix, and now Touro University. 

Dr. Tarrant loves anything Disney and traveling. She enjoys baseball in the summers and is an avid Mets fan.

During the 6 years that Dr. Tarrant has been leading the SON, she had seen overseen the successful launching of three programs. This includes initial CCNE accreditation of the MSN-FNP, DNP, and PMCFNP, programs, and re-accreditation of all SON programs.

Dr. Tarrant's doctoral dissertation was Role Conflict, Role Ambiguity and Job Satisfaction among Nurse Executives.
