Dr. Samantha Peckham is a board-certified nurse practitioner with extensive clinical and academic expertise across multiple specialties, including adult-gerontology acute care, family practice, emergency care, and psychiatric mental health. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at Touro University Nevada, where she teaches in both the Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. In this role, she develops curriculum, mentors students, and advances nursing scholarship through research, publication, and service. Dr. Peckham values teaching across both programs because it allows her to support students in building strong clinical foundations while also mentoring them as they transition into scholarly inquiry and leadership roles.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Peckham maintains an active clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan. Her philosophy emphasizes holistic health promotion, preventive care, and evidence-based practice. She has practiced in diverse settings, including emergency medicine, primary care, and wellness, and is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Peckham is a Certified Nurse Educator and an engaged member of professional organizations such as the Nevada Advanced Practice Nurse Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Through her teaching, clinical work, and volunteer service, she continues to shape the future of nursing and contribute to the advancement of healthcare at both local and national levels

Dr. Peckham’s specialty training spans multiple areas of advanced practice nursing. She is board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, a Family Nurse Practitioner, an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, and a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This diverse clinical background enables her to provide comprehensive care across the lifespan and in a wide range of settings, including primary care, emergency medicine, and psychiatric practice.

In addition to her clinical certifications, Dr. Peckham is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and holds a certificate in Effective College Instruction from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). These credentials support her role as faculty in both the Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. By integrating her clinical expertise with advanced training in academic leadership, Dr. Peckham prepares students to deliver safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care.

Dr. Peckham’s research and scholarly activities have centered on advancing nursing education, clinical preparedness, and quality improvement in advanced practice. She has served as Project Instructor and Co-Author for multiple Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) projects, guiding students in the development, implementation, and dissemination of evidence-based initiatives that improve patient care outcomes.

Her own DNP project evaluated the readiness of Nevada nurse practitioners for clinical practice following graduation, utilizing the Nevada Nurse Practitioners’ Preparedness for Practice Survey. This study identified critical gaps in transition-to-practice and informed strategies to strengthen graduate nurse practitioner education.

Beyond research, Dr. Peckham has contributed to the profession through service as a Test Item Panelist for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam and active participation in legislative advocacy, linking policy development to frontline clinical practice. These efforts continue to shape her teaching philosophy and reinforce her role as a clinical and academic leader.
