Samantha Peckham, DNP, APRN

Originally from San Diego, California, and raised in New Jersey, Samantha Peckham relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2004. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2007 and began her nursing career in a variety of acute care settings, including Neuro ICU, Intermediate Care (IMC), Cardiac Progressive Observation Unit (CPOU), Emergency Room (ER), and Trauma ER.
In 2013, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) at the University of Arizona. She went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and post-master’s certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2015. Her doctoral project, Evaluating the Readiness of Nevada Nurse Practitioners for Clinical Practice Post-Graduation Utilizing the Nevada Nurse Practitioners’ Preparedness for Practice Survey, focused on assessing the clinical preparedness of new nurse practitioners in Nevada.
After five years of emergency medicine experience at University Medical Center (UMC), including the completion of their Advanced Practice Provider residency, Dr. Peckham achieved board certification as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP). Most recently, in 2024, she expanded her scope of practice further by earning a post-master’s certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Peckham currently serves as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) at Touro University Nevada, where she has been teaching since 2017. She is the lead faculty member for Trimester 5 and the Differential Diagnoses in Primary Care course, in addition to serving as a clinical supervising faculty member and DNP project instructor. Her previous teaching experience includes courses in Gerontology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Medical Terminology at UNLV and Nevada State College. She has also served as a site supervisor for Grand Canyon University and taught Differential Diagnoses at Chamberlain College of Nursing.
On a personal note, Dr. Peckham met her husband in the Trauma Resuscitation Unit at UMC in 2012; he now works in the Cath Lab at Southern Hills Hospital. Together, they have a blended family of six children and share their home with a golden retriever puppy. Outside of work, she enjoys CrossFit, Café Rio, and training in Jiu-Jitsu, where she holds a blue belt.
Her professional interests and research focus on adolescent mental health, particularly anxiety and depression, as well as supporting first responders—specifically firefighters—in managing PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and substance use disorders. She is also particularly interested in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and its applications for trauma-related conditions.
