Julie Astrella, DNP, RN, CNE

Dr. Julie Astrella is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing who teaches in the DNP program. After spending a decade in various nursing roles, Dr. Astrella discovered her passion for academia and has taught ever since. Before joining the Touro University nursing faculty in 2021, Dr. Astrella spent eight years teaching for the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Dr. Astrella specializes in acute and cardiovascular nursing, having practiced at an urban community hospital, academic medical center, and critical access hospital. Before teaching, Dr. Astrella served in leadership positions as an Assistant Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership and Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Edgewood College, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh.
Julie and her husband, Chris, love all things Packers and Disney. In their free time, they enjoy traveling (especially Disney vacations), watching football and movies, being active outdoors, and spending time with their dog, Thumper.
