Start Biography

Dr. Julie Astrella is an Assistant Professor of Nursing who teaches in the DNP program. After spending a decade in a variety of nursing roles, Dr. Astrella discovered her passion for academia and has been teaching ever since. She enjoys guiding her students through the challenge of learning the art and science of nursing at all levels. Prior to joining Touro University Nevada, Dr. Astrella taught in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and was co-Coordinator of Interprofessional Education. She was awarded the DAISY Faculty Award by her students, which recognizes extraordinary nursing faculty who inspire and influence future nurses.

Dr. Astrella specializes in acute and cardiovascular care and nursing education. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership and Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Edgewood College, as well as Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
