Students and Faculty Showcase Projects for Campus Community During 16th Annual Research Day
Students and faculty across Touro University Nevada’s programs showcased their projects for the campus community during the 16th annual Research Day on March 10.
Held virtually, more than 30 research projects were on display for viewers to learn more about during the event.
Topics included Alzheimer’s disease, correlation between sleep and exam performance, prevalence of anti-COVID-19 antibodies in the Southern Nevada community, preparedness to treat diverse populations, novel common therapeutic approach cancer and viral diseases, and more.
Dr. Jean-Marc Schwarz, Professor of Biochemistry in the Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine, served as the keynote speaker with a presentation called, “De Novo Lipogenesis (DNL), De Novo ‘what’? A Lipogenic View of Human Metabolism.”
“Those who participated in Research Day developed skills for understanding primary literature for application to evidence-based medicine, taking a step toward a scholarly publication, and strengthening ties with fellow students and research mentors,” said Dr. Cheryl Vanier, Chief Research Officer. “Everyone who participates can learn something new about the research that is going on at TUN, network with colleagues, connect with potential mentors and mentees, and gain a broader understanding of research as an important and interesting activity which can be a lifelong pursuit.”
