Parkinson’s Disease 101 in 2025: Overview and Update
The Touro Nevada Department of Research welcomes seminar speaker Dr. Zolton Mari, from the Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders Program at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Department of Neurology at Johns Hopkins University.
This high-yield session reviews how to recognize, diagnose, and stage Parkinson’s disease; the full motor and non-motor spectrum; and current, evidence-based management—from levodopa optimization and MAO-B/COMT extenders to deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, and team-based care. We’ll also highlight 2025 updates in biomarkers (including α-syn seeding assays), genetics-informed risk and trials, digital monitoring, and realistic prospects for disease modification.
This seminar is open to Touro University Nevada students, faculty, and staff. Zoom details will be distributed via email prior to the event.
