Simulation Center Achieves Prestigious Multi-Site Accreditation
Touro University Nevada’s Michael Tang Regional Center for Clinical Simulation has reached a major milestone, earning multi-site accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and solidifying its position among the nation’s top healthcare simulation programs. The achievement places Touro Nevada’s Simulation Center within the top 15% of simulation centers nationwide and further strengthens its reputation as a leader in simulation-based healthcare education.
Building on its historic accomplishment in 2024 as the first simulation center in Nevada to receive full SSH Teaching/Education Accreditation, Touro Nevada now serves as the flagship accreditation hub for the Touro University system. The university worked closely with Touro campuses in Great Falls, Montana, and Harlem and Middletown, New York, to successfully achieve SSH accreditation across multiple locations.

SSH accreditation is regarded as one of the highest standards in healthcare simulation and recognizes programs that demonstrate excellence in education, training, and outcomes.
“SSH accreditation represents a rigorous, internationally recognized standard of excellence in healthcare simulation,” said Dr. Alan Kadish, President of Touro University. “Healthcare simulation gives students and healthcare professionals a safe, controlled environment to build clinical skills, strengthen communication and teamwork, practice critical decision-making, and prepare for complex patient-care situations before encountering them in real-world clinical settings.”
According to Dr. Patricia Salkin, Campus Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Touro University Nevada, the new accreditation milestone expands opportunities for students and faculty alike.
“With this level of accreditation, our students gain access to an even broader network of expertise, collaboration, and shared learning opportunities,” said Salkin. “It allows both our students and our simulation center to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence in healthcare education.”
Each year, more than 1,400 future healthcare professionals from Touro Nevada’s programs in osteopathic medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, nursing, and occupational therapy train in the Simulation Center. The facility also serves as a critical resource for Southern Nevada community partners, including the Henderson Fire Department, Henderson Police Department, SWAT teams, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, TeamHealth, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, and others that utilize the center for continuing education, training, and mentorship opportunities.
Spanning nearly one-quarter of the university’s campus, the state-of-the-art Simulation Center immerses learners in realistic healthcare environments designed to prepare them for the challenges of modern patient care. The facility features a six-bed hospital unit with an observation deck, high-fidelity simulation suites and debriefing rooms, an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) wing, a Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) lab, an Interdisciplinary Learning (IDL) lab, and an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) lab.
The center is equipped with advanced high-fidelity manikins, including pediatric simulators and a full-birth simulator, as well as thousands of task trainers and specialized pieces of equipment. Supported by a team of 77 standardized patients, the center offers students hands-on, immersive learning experiences through an almost limitless range of clinical scenarios, helping ensure they enter the workforce confident, capable, and ready to deliver exceptional patient care.
