Mar 25, 2026

A record 72 Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine graduates will remain in Nevada, significantly strengthening the state’s healthcare system with the majority of students going into Southern Nevada programs. This represents a 31% increase from the Class of 2025. Thirty-seven percent of these future Nevada doctors will be working in primary care, with more than 10% going in psychiatry.

Touro University Nevada is proud to announce a 100% match/placement into residency program for the 172 soon-to-be doctors. Today medical students at Touro University Nevada joined medical schools across the country celebrating Match Day, learning where they will begin their residency training and taking the next major step in their medical careers.

“Today’s success highlights Touro University Nevada’s commitment to narrow the physician shortage impacting Nevada,” said Dr. Patricia Salkin, Provost & Chief Academic Officer. “We take great pride in graduating future doctors who are committed to serving our local communities and improving access to quality healthcare across our state.”

While Nevada remains home to the majority our future doctors, 13 states will welcome a Touro University Nevada osteopathic medicine graduate with California receiving 44 graduates. More than half of the current class, representing 56 percent of students, matched into primary care fields. Students matched 20 specialties, including internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, and psychiatry.

“This moment celebrates the culmination of years of studying, practice, and self-discovery that has led them to their specialty,” added Dr. Paul Kalekas, Interim Dean of The College of Osteopathic Medicine. “Our forward-thinking curriculum, hands-on simulation learning, dedicated preceptors in our clinical rotations, and student success team all have made these students the desirable candidates when they applied to these residency programs.”

Match Day is a traditional rite of passage for medical students who have finished their four years of medical education and now embark on their next step as residents. Students in their fourth year rank their desired specialties at hospitals and programs who then rank their choices to find a match, which is orchestrated by The National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). This nationwide event occurs on the third Friday in March every year. At Touro University Nevada, students along with their families and friends are invited to an event where at nine in the morning they open an envelope that reveals where they will be continuing their academic and training journey as they take their next giant leap forward into their careers as outstanding healthcare professionals.

“I am so proud that every single one of our students has secured their future and can proceed down their chosen professional path,” shared Dr. Kalekas. “Touro University Nevada’s legacy on this community continues to grow with our students, but I know the legacy that our students will have on Nevada will be even greater.”
