Touro University Nevada Provost Dr. Andrew Priest Recognized by Healthcare Quarterly
Touro University Nevada Provost Dr. Andrew Priest was honored in the 2024 issue of Healthcare Quarterly, by Vegas Inc., the parent company of the Las Vegas Sun. Each year, the magazine highlights ten medical practitioners, dubbed headliners, who in the words of the magazine, “represent the resilient spirit of the Las Vegas Valley through their work.”
The laudatory profile focused on Dr. Priest’s work in establishing Touro University Nevada, the state’s largest school of medicine and the state’s only school of osteopathic medicine.
Dr. Priest spoke of his mission to increase medical care in the state.
“Many of our graduates choose to practice in Nevada and are selected by residency programs here,” Dr. Priest told the magazine. “The more providers we can get to live and practice here, the less patients will have to ‘wait or wander’ to get the health care they need.”
Additionally, during Dr. Priest’s tenure, Touro students began providing free healthcare to the local community through the school’s clinic and to the state’s homeless population through a partnership with Project Homeless Connect. The profile also praised Dr. Priest’s leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that through distance-learning students were able to continue their studies without significant disruption.
