Celebrating Milestones to Honor Dedicated Touro University Nevada Team Members
Throughout the week, Touro University Nevada celebrated the dedicated staff and faculty who drive our mission of teaching, service, and learning. The culmination of these festivities was a special luncheon honoring those who have reached significant milestone anniversaries.
In total, we recognized 48 individuals: 32 for five years, eight for ten years, four for fifteen years, and four for twenty years. Each person plays a vital role in shaping our students into future medical professionals, and their remarkable milestones are a testament to their unwavering commitment and impact.
Celebrating 5 Years
“The wonderful spirit of the faculty, students and staff who through their outstanding work contributed to the College of Osteopathic Medicine being granted the 10-year COCA “accreditation with distinction” – a status that very few medical schools can claim.”
Wolfgang G. Gilliar, DO, FAAPMR | Dean, College of Osteopathic Medicine
Celebrating 10 Years
“The impact I hope to have made is one where students not only acquire a strong foundation of medical knowledge but also develop the ability to apply that knowledge in real-world clinical settings. I aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and clinical practice, helping students to see the relevance of what they study in the classroom to their future roles as healthcare providers. Through my teaching, I strive to inspire students to realize their full potential, encouraging them to love their chosen profession and approach their work with the same passion and dedication that I bring to mine. Ultimately, I hope to cultivate not just skilled practitioners, but compassionate, thoughtful, and lifelong learners in the field of medicine.”
Joshua M. Owens, DPA, MPAS, PA-C | Associate Professor, School of Physician Assistant Studies
Celebrating 15 Years
“My biggest accomplishment was being honored by students and graduates on two occasions to get the awards of the Educator of the Year in acute care in 2019 and then in 2022, I was awarded the Annual Excellence in Academic Education in wound care.”
Stacy Fisher, DPT, DBA, AEMT, CCRT, CEAS, CWT, STS | Professor, School of Physical Therapy
Celebrating 20 Years
“I would like to continue helping my students learn not only the content but also how to learn effectively through teaching and assessment. Moreover, I would like to impact the students and, eventually, the faculty’s lives through the elective I created, the first one in the institution, Clinical Nutrition with Culinary Medicine, to ameliorate the community’s lifestyle of food prep and healthy eating.”
Amina Sadik, MS, PhD, MSMEdL | Professor, Basic Sciences
