Medical Student Jose Parra Discusses COSGP’s Vision for Upcoming Year as National Chair
As National Chair of the College of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP), third-year Touro medical student Jose Parra is laying out his vision for the upcoming year.
COSGP is a national council under the American Association of the Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). It consists of the Presidents and Vice-Presidents of the student government associations of each osteopathic medical school across the country.
“We listen to students at the local level, and we bring the voices of the collective student body and work alongside AACOM administration to bring positive change to the future of osteopathic medicine,” Parra said.
In a video, Parra discussed what he hopes to accomplish over the coming year as COSGP’s National Chair. Since the COVID-19 pandemic forced medical schools across the country into a strictly online learning environment, Parra said COSGP works to make it easier for students as they adjust to pursuing their medical education in a post-COVID world.
“Additionally, we are seeking to continue to make resources equitable throughout the medical student community,” he said. “And we are hoping to educate the public as well as others within the medical community about the osteopathic profession.”
