Dr. Andrew Priest Named Provost of Touro University Nevada
Dr. Andrew Priest was named the new Provost of Touro University Nevada nearly one year after assuming the role of Interim Provost and Chief Academic Officer.
Dr. Priest first came to Touro University Nevada as Dean of the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) in 2012. Prior to joining Touro, he was Chair of the Physical Therapy Department at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. Before that, he was a faculty member at Texas Tech University’s Health Sciences Center. Dr. Priest was a physical therapist in the U.S. Army before starting a career in higher education.
“I am excited for the opportunity to help lead Touro University Nevada’s academic programs into the future as we continue to navigate our new normal,” he said. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our faculty have done a remarkable job providing our students with a quality education in a safe environment. I am grateful for us to continue working together and educating our students on their journey to becoming the healthcare providers and educators of the future.”
Shelley Berkley, CEO & Senior Provost, credited Dr. Priest’s successes as Interim Provost over the past year as one of the reasons she is optimistic that he will successfully lead Touro’s academic programs into the future.
“Dr. Priest’s promotion is a testament to his dedication to ensuring that our program directors and faculty continue to do everything they can to ensure that our students succeed,” she said. “I have no doubt he will continue to work closely with our faculty in this permanent role. Dr. Priest has always been an advocate for student success, and I look forward to seeing how he helps lead Touro University Nevada’s academic programs to even greater success in the future.”
Dr. Robert Askey, who served as the Associate Dean of CHHS, will serve as the Interim Dean while a national search is conducted.
