Touro University Nevada’s College of Health and Human Services Class of 2020 Honored During Virtual Commencement
The Touro University Nevada College of Health and Human Services celebrated the Class of 2020’s Commencement with a virtual ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Students from the Schools of Physician Assistant Studies, Nursing, and Education typically celebrate their Commencement in November, but COVID-19 changed the landscape as students from the Schools of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy joined the celebration as well.
“Our world is changing in ways we never could have imagined, yet quality healthcare and education are two things that this world still desperately needs,” said Jeffrey Ryemon, the student Commencement speaker from the School of Physical Therapy. “As healthcare providers, it is our responsibility to give the best possible care to our patients while helping them make the best decisions for themselves. Thanks to everything I learned on this incredible journey over the last three years, I can say for certain that my patients will be in great hands.”
Shelley Berkley, CEO and Senior Provost of Touro University Western Division, commended the graduates for their tireless efforts in completing their studies amidst a worldwide pandemic.
“Life may be unpredictable, but your role as healthcare providers and educators has never been more critical,” she said. “As you transition from student to graduate, you will become the compassionate and dedicated leaders who will help so many people in need during this pandemic, and long after this pandemic fades away. Although the future is still very much unpredictable, we, as a global community, are better together.”
