Joshua Owens, DPA, MPAS, PA-C
Joshua Owens is an Associate Professor and course director of the clinical skills course series in the School of Physician Assistant Studies. He earned a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Utah State University in 2005, with minors in music and chemistry. He went on to earn his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Missouri State University in 2007. In 2023, he was accepted into the inaugural Doctorate of Physician Assistant class at Touro University Nevada and earned his DPA in June 2024.
Prior to joining Touro in 2014, he practiced primary care with the underserved in the community health center setting and with the Utah Department of Health. He has a strong interest in the management of chronic pain in the primary care setting. During the five years he spent with the Health Clinics of Utah, in addition to his primary care duties, he cared for many patients with chronic pain comorbid conditions.
His current teaching and research interests lies in integrating Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) into medical program curricula and teaching PA students the fundamentals and application of POCUS in a variety of medical disciplines. He also serves as faculty liaison with “PA POCUS TEAM TOURO”, a PA student team that represents TUN at the annual AAPA conference in the “I SCAN” POCUS competition.
