Are you interested in health administration or the business of medicine? How about pursuing a leadership role in your hospital or health system? If you said yes to either question, come join us on February 10th, 2021 from 5PM to 6PM as we learn from physician leaders from the Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA). EMRA is the oldest and largest independent medical resident organization in the world, representing over 90% of emergency medicine residents. No matter what specialty you're pursuing, or where you are in your medical education, there'll be networking opportunities and high-yield takeaways for you as this event will cater toward all specialties.

PANELIST BIOS:

Nick Stark: Nick Stark, MD, MBA, is an Emergency Medicine PGY-3 at the University of California San Francisco and the incoming chair of EMRA’s Administration & Operations Committee. Nick helps lead UCSF’s Acute Care Innovation Center, where he creates digital products to improve ED operations, and also directs a multi-center study investigating COVID-19’s impacts on teamwork and leadership.

Ynhi Thomas: Dr. Ynhi Thomas is an Administrative Fellow at Baylor College of Medicine. She also served as the outgoing Chair of the EMRA Administration and Operations Committee and Chief Resident at Baylor. Her areas of interest include sex and gender based differences in terms of quality outcomes and equity in Emergency Medicine. She has received a competitive Health Inequities Grant to study the differences in utilization rates of computed tomography pulmonary angiography for suspected pulmonary embolism based on the patient's race and sex. Dr. Thomas also serves as a Peer Reviewer for Annals of Emergency Medicine on sex and gender topics and have written numerous articles on the issue. She has received recognition as EMRA's Resident of the Year, Baylor Women of Excellence Award, and FemInEM Travel Scholarship for FIX.

Nicholas Cozzi: Dr. Nicholas Cozzi is an MBA trained, Chief Emergency Medicine Resident at Spectrum Health / Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Chair of the Spectrum Health House Staff Council (Grand Rapids), and EMRA’s Representative to ACEP and its Board of Directors. Nicholas recently matched at the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) City/ Northwell Health EMS Fellowship for 2021/2022.

Andrew Luo: Andrew is a MD/MBA student at Penn State College of Medicine and Columbia Business School. He began his career on the corporate strategy team at Humana, where he helped senior leadership evaluate the value proposition of Humana’s primary care assets in light of the then-pending merger between Humana and Aetna. During his graduate studies, he has worked for several healthcare organizations, including Geisinger Health System, Mount Sinai Health Partners, and Horizon Therapeutics. Outside of school, he serves on the Administration and Operations committee within the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA) and helps lead the Geisinger Medical Student Business Fellowship, a summer program designed to give future physicians early exposure to healthcare leadership and hospital administration. Andrew graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Biology.

Jared Ditkowsky: Dr. Jared Ditkowsky is a Chief Resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai's Department of Emergency medicine. He currently serves as Assistant vice chair of EMRA's Administration and Operations committee and has recently accepted a role as part of the Emergency Department's operations team at Hackensack University Medical Center. His areas of interest include quality improvement research/innovation and health policy/public health cost-effective analysis.
