LGBTQ + Care

Healthcare disparities within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA) community exist, partly due to the lack of culturally congruent care given by healthcare professionals. The health of the LGBTQIA+ community is suffering and lack of empathy and ineffective communication are the culprits. This presentation will highlight topics such as proper pronouns, microaggressions, and effective communication to help alleviate the disparities.
