Dr. Robert Askey and Associate Professor Amie Duford Named to Permanent Positions at Touro
Dr. Robert Askey and Associate Professor PA Amie Duford had the ‘interim’ tags removed from their titles after being permanently appointed to their positions.
Dean of the College of Health and Human Services
Dr. Askey, who was named Interim Dean of the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) in the Summer of 2021, was officially named Dean of CHHS in February.
Dr. Askey will oversee the Schools of Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and Education into the future.
“I am thrilled to continue leading the College of Health and Human Services into the future as Dean,” he said. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our faculty have done a remarkable job providing our students with opportunities to thrive in the classroom and out in the community. Our future is incredibly bright.”
Dr. Askey first came to Touro University Nevada in 2008 as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Education. He became a full-time faculty member in 2010 and, eventually, Director of the School of Education in 2015.
In 2019, he was named Associate Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. He served as the Interim Dean of CHHS after the previous Dean, Dr. Andrew Priest, was named Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Touro University Nevada.
Director of the School of Physician Assistant Studies
Associate Professor PA Amie Duford was officially named Director of the School of Physician Assistant Studies after serving as the Interim Director for eight months.
Duford graduated from Touro’s PA program in 2007 and worked as a PA in the Las Vegas Valley for nearly 10 years before returning to her alma mater as a faculty member in 2016.
Since returning to Touro in 2016, Duford has made mobile healthcare outreach a priority to her students’ education. She said that community outreach was a foundation for the PA profession and is encouraged by how much it has expanded among Touro’s PA students.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue leading Touro’s School of Physician Assistant Studies into the future,” she said. “As a graduate of Touro’s PA program, I am excited to watch our students continue their growth as future practitioners and deliver care to the patients who will depend on them after they graduate.”
