Start Biography

Born in Oceanside, California and raised in Coronado, California, Weldon (Don) Havins has spent 27 years of his life in a formal education program. Two years in the U.S. Navy were followed by a UCLA residency in ophthalmology, a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery, years of medical practice in Las Vegas, Nevada interrupted by law school for a J.D. in San Diego, followed by a Masters of Law in Health Law. Along the way, Don earned a Masters in Management at the Drucker School of Management at the Claremont Graduate University. Don has served as Executive Director and Legal Counsel for the Clark County Medical Society and the Nevada Board of Osteopathic Medicine. Don is married to Kelly Mecham, APRN, NP, DNP, and enjoys time with son, Bradley, a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, daughter Laura, who is a nurse practitioner, and daughter Anna who teaches English in Kochi, Japan.
