Jillian "Jill" Descoteaux , PH.D., A.T.
Jill is a academic researcher, educator, and clinician. Her primary focus is on healthcare access for dancers and public health policy. She is a twice elected board member for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science. Originally from NH, Jill has lived all around New England as well as London, Ohio, New York, California, Colorado, Sydney, and of course Nevada. When she's not working or writing, you'll find her hiking, running, rock climbing, or roller skating outside.
After graduating with a Bachelor degree in Athletic Training, Jill moved to London to earn her Master degree in Dance Science. This was followed by working in a Performing Arts medicine clinic in Ohio while she simoutaneously earned a second Master degree in Athletic Training and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on Professional Counseling and Qualitative Research Methods in addition to her previous academic interests. Jill's dissertation examined the perceptions dancers in the United States and Australia have of their respective healthcare systems and experiences accessing healthcare.
Jill is a nationally Certified Athletic Trainer and is licensed in NV, NH, and MA.
Jill is an active qualitative researcher working on several collaborative projects in the fields of: strength training, public health, healthcare access, and dance science.

Previous to Touro, Jill was an athletic trainer at Cirque du Soliel (Zumanity) and for Denver Colorado's MLR team, the Glendale Raptors. Before that, while she was completing her Ph.D., Jill was a full-time lecturer in an undergraduate athletic training program in New Hampshire.
