TUN CREDIT HOUR
All programs across TUN award 1 credit for each 15 hours of direct faculty instruction (lecture) as stipulated by WASC and as appears in TUN Catalog, Grading System section. The number of hours per unit for laboratory or practice session varies by School. Students are encouraged to contact the particular School for more information. Schools make a determination of appropriate hours based on what is most appropriate given the specific discipline and the number of weeks and clock hours in a given term. When determining credit hours assigned to laboratory or practice sessions, Schools also ensure a minimum number of hours in alignment with the credit hour assignment for direct faculty instruction as described previously (1 credit for each 15 hours of direct faculty instruction). This practice also complies with regional accreditation requirements as stipulated in the WASC Credit Hour Policy (section 600.2 and section 600.24). Credit hour assignments are reviewed regularly by appropriate institutional officials to ensure that they are accurate and reliable.
Per the TUN Catalog, Academic programs will evaluate coursework taken at other universities to determine whether any courses will transfer to meet degree requirements. The academic program determines which courses are equivalent to TUN courses and will transfer to the University and will determine how courses will be used to fulfill degree requirements in a student’s program of study. Each school shall develop a policy that determines the maximum number of credits that can transfer to the University.
Only coursework successfully completed at other colleges and universities that are recognized by the six regional accrediting associations may be considered for transfer credit.
To be eligible for review:
- Touro University Nevada must have a similar program or course offering.
- The course should be applied to the student’s program of study at Touro University Nevada as determined by the academic program.
