Touro University Nevada Honors Graduates as Part of Alumni Weekend
Touro University Nevada held its second annual alumni weekend as graduates across different programs came together for continuing education, brunch, and a special awards ceremony.
“I can tell you that we, as a campus community, have great pride in each of you and all that you represent in the communities you serve,” Shelley Berkley, CEO and Senior Provost, told the crowd during the alumni awards reception. “You are all wonderful alumni who have gone on to live Touro’s motto of ‘To serve. To lead. To teach.’ We are so proud to call you alumni.”
The weekend’s festivities began with continuing medical education, sponsored by the Nevada Osteopathic Medical Association, from Touro faculty and alumni that covered a wide range of topics, including abuse and human trafficking, vaping hazards, preventing dementia, suicide prevention, and more.
The reunion closed with a brunch and awards reception to recognize distinguished alumni as voted on by a university committee. Ravi Patel, a 2015 graduate of the School of Physician Assistant Studies, won the Generosity Award; Dr. Sandy Olguin, a 2015 graduate of the School of Nursing, won the Community Impact Award; Dr. Lloyd Del Mundo, a 2009 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, won the Blue and Gold Award; Dr. Suzanne Roozendaal, a 2009 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, won the Alumna of the Year Award; and Dr. Dulce Santacroce, Associate Professor in the School of Nursing, won the Honorary Alumnus of the Year Award.
During her closing remarks, Berkley reminded the attending alumni how critical they were to Touro’s foundation, and how critical they are to Touro’s future.
“One of the best ways to demonstrate the success of our university is through the success of our alumni,” she said. “We are proud to count you as members of the Touro family and I hope you will remain connected with us as you move forward as professionals.”
