Apply for Loans

***2013-2014 Financial Aid Information***

It’s time to begin the 2013-2014 Financial Aid Process. Students should complete the financial aid process no later than May 1, 2013 to guarantee adequate processing time. We strongly encourage ALL students to complete the FAFSA even if you are not interested in student loans. Students who complete the FAFSA have the opportunity to work on campus as a work-study student. In addition, some external scholarship agencies contact the Office of Financial Aid to confirm if a student applicant has financial need; the FAFSA is our tool to determine if a student has need or not. The 2013-2014 Process is as follows:

2013-2014 FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION PROCESS:

STEP 1: Prepare and File your 2012 Tax Return

• Non-Tax Filers:

Students who will not file 2012 Tax Returns can complete the 2013-14 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) now!
Proceed to Step 2!

• Tax Filers (READ CAREFULLY):

Students who will file a 2012 Tax Return are strongly encouraged to complete their tax return and file it with the IRS BEFORE completing the 2013-14 FAFSA.
o o File your 2012 Tax Return, as early as possible;
o We suggest you wait 4 weeks after submitting your tax return to the IRS; this will enable you to use the IRS data retrieval tool when completing your FAFSA. If you are a tax filer and do not use the IRS data retrieval tool, this may delay the processing of your aid; we strongly encourage you to use this tool.
o You are ready to complete your 2013-2014 FAFSA! Proceed to Step 2!

STEP 2: 2013-2014 FAFSA Completion

Complete your 2013-2014 FAFSA by the May 1, 2013 priority file date to provide the Office of Financial Aid adequate processing time. When completing your FAFSA use the following School Code:
School Code: 041426 (Touro University – Vallejo, CA) – This is not a typo! You must select the Touro University – Vallejo, CA school code!

NOTE: Some students will be selected by the U.S. Department of Education to have information reported on the FAFSA verified; this process is called Verification. If your FAFSA is selected for Verification, you will be notified via your Student Aid Report and you will receive a letter from the Office of Financial Aid requesting you to submit certain documentation for review.
