Peer tutoring services are free to students; they are determined by need and availability. Tutor request forms can be obtained on Blackboard, by emailing OASIS, or by stopping by OASIS in room 412. Students generally have a tutor assigned to them within five working days. However if the demand is great tutor assignment may take longer, you will then be placed on a waiting list. Tutors may be reassigned if there are students with greater academic need.
The best time to request a tutor is after a quiz or assignment that demonstrates your ability. OASIS does look at need. You may be placed in a group or have an individual tutor depending on availability.
Students interested in becoming a tutor must have earned at least a “B” in the course they wish to tutor and have department chair approval. They must complete and submit a Tutor Application Form, W-4, and I-9 as well as provide a copy of their driver’s license and social security card. Tutor Application Forms can be obtained on Blackboard, by emailing OASIS or by stopping by OASIS in room 412. Tutoring is a great way to review your knowledge and also great for Boards study.
